The Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, Shanghai Chapter, is looking for a high caliber executive to join as the new Deputy General Manager. This is a chance to join the non-profit platform for Benelux businesses in China a position of responsibility and influence. Be a leader and change agent in connecting businesses, sponsors, the three countries' Consulates and Trade & Invest departments, Chinese companies with an interest in the Benelux, and - importantly - with Alumni who have studied in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. This is an amazing opportunity to develop your (already strong) Benelux-China network.

Job title & reporting:

  • Deputy General Manager (there will be two positions with this title, with different job scopes)
  • Direct reporting line to the General Manager, and indirectly to the Executive Committee of the Benelux Chamber of Commerce
  • Invited to ExCom meetings

Key contributions:

  • Shape the focus and activities of the Chamber to meet the needs of Chinese executives, including member companies' executives and Benelux alumni.
  • Integrate new senior Benelux alumni into Chamber community.
  • Operational representative of the Chamber in interactions with Chinese stakeholders.

Job descriptions:


  • Support the team with events and marketing
  • Responsibility for Benelux alumni events related, and Practice Group (sector-focused) events
  • Co-Responsibility (with GM) for coordination of Chinese partners in Practice Groups
  • Programming of activities to suit Chinese executives (including Benelux alumni)


  • Responsible for relations with Chinese sponsors, partners and Chinese member companies
  • Attract new local sponsors of events, annual sponsoring, practice groups


  • Increase long-term membership of Benelux alumni (and their companies)
  • Increase membership of Chinese companies that fit with the Chamber's mission and values.


  • Self-driven, independent, result-oriented, solid organizational skills.
  • Outgoing personality, excellent social and interpersonal skills, pro-active communicator.
  • Business experience, ideally with managerial/project responsibility or entrepreneurial.
  • Strong written and spoken language skills in both English and Chinese
  • Full-time availability (flexibility in hours) or 4 days/week
