A global leader in the FMCG sector to find a seasoned and strategic Trade Compliance Manager. Based in Hong Kong, you will join a dynamic regional team and play a crucial role in navigating the complex landscape of international trade.

 

 

About the job

  • You will actively monitor customs regulations across the APAC region, assess potential impacts, and communicate necessary actions to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
  • You will oversee all regional customs compliance activities, including customs valuations, HS code classifications, Certification of Origin validation, CITES permits, and ATA Carnet utilizations.
  • You will serve as the primary point of contact, communicating with government authorities, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to resolve any trade-related issues.
  • You will provide expert trade compliance recommendations for key projects, new market entries, and evolving supply chain flows to ensure all activities align with local laws and Group policies.
  • You will partner with technical teams to ensure the appropriate utilization of GTS/SAP systems for customs control and reporting.
  • You will develop and conduct effective trade compliance training for local teams, empowering them with the knowledge to translate Group directives into operational excellence.

     

Skills & experiences required

  • Over 10 years of proven experience in trade compliance, gained from an in-house role, consultancy, or a 3PL, with a strong focus on the APAC region.
  • In-depth knowledge of import/export regulations, e-commerce compliance, customs rules, product classification (HS codes), and AEO programs.
  • Extensive experience collaborating directly with customs and import/export control authorities.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and crisis management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A collaborative team player with strong cultural awareness and a self-motivated, detail-oriented work ethic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese are essential; proficiency in a third Asian language is a plus.
