Belgian Company aims to Invest 590 Million RMB in Changshu
Last Friday, the Chamber witnessed the commencement of Umicore's fuel cell catalyst project in Haiyu Town, Changshu City, signaling a strategic investment in sustainable energy. Umicore Fuel Cell Catalyst (Changshu) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Belgian Umicore Group, has dedicated three decades to advancing fuel cell catalyst technology, supplying platinum and iridium catalysts across diverse industries.
As the demand for hydrogen fuel cells rises, particularly in automobiles, ships, aerospace, and energy storage, the Changshu project, with a reportedly planned investment of 590 million yuan, is poised to meet this surge. Anticipated for completion in 2025, the project's swift progress, from negotiations to ground-breaking in nine months, underscores the commitment to transforming concepts into tangible advancements in fuel cell technology.
