Belgian Victory at the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Shanghai
The Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) returned to Shanghai from 1 to 3 May 2026, bringing together 40 of the world’s top show jumpers at the Shanghai Juss International Equestrian Centre. Around 23,000 spectators attended across the three-day event, confirming Shanghai’s place as one of the highlights of the international equestrian calendar.

Belgium had plenty to celebrate as Nicola Philippaerts claimed victory in the Grand Prix aboard his mare Katanga v/h Dingeshof. The pair delivered a flawless double clear in a thrilling 19-rider jump-off, crossing the finish line in 45.31 seconds ahead of Germany’s Marcus Ehning and France’s Antoine Ermann.
After his win, Philippaerts praised both his horse and the Shanghai crowd: “My mare is such a fighter. She has been in so many jump-offs, so it’s really special to win here in front of such an incredible crowd. The atmosphere was amazing.”
Luxembourg was also represented among the world’s elite, with Victor Bettendorf qualifying for the jump-off competition.
The Benelux Chamber of Commerce congratulates Nicola Philippaerts on this fantastic achievement and applauds Victor Bettendorf for competing at the highest international level.
