From October 17 to 19, the Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai hosted the Greater China Weekend (GCW) 2025, a yearly gathering of Belgian diplomats across China, along with colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels and representatives from Belgium’s regional entities. The event offered a platform to exchange insights on Belgium’s policy priorities and diplomatic strategy toward China, with a strong focus on economic and trade relations.

The Benelux Chamber of Commerce in East China was invited to present its ongoing efforts to support Benelux companies in the Chinese market. During the session, we highlighted how our 4C’s Model, Collaboration, Content, Community, and China, guides our daily operations and strategic initiatives. We also shared our recent growth: from 56 events with an average of 30 attendees in 2023, to nearly over 80 events with 55 attendees on average in 2025, including multiple gatherings exceeding 200 guests.

Key initiatives showcased included:

Promoting Academic and Cultural Exchange:
Through our Intern2China program and university delegation support, we facilitate knowledge exchange, hands-on experience in China, and stronger links between Benelux students, academic institutions, and local Chinese partners.

Supporting Benelux Businesses in China:
We assist companies in exploring market opportunities, connecting them with local stakeholders, planning tailored business delegations, and providing strategic guidance for expansion and collaboration in China.

Strengthening Diplomatic and Cultural Ties:
Our events and programs celebrate Benelux culture, encourage cross-border collaboration, and reinforce the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Belgium and China.

Through these initiatives, the Chamber not only helps Benelux organizations navigate China’s business environment but also encourages deeper academic, cultural, and economic exchange. Our programs ensure that students, companies, and policymakers alike gain meaningful insights and connections, driving mutual growth and engagement.

We sincerely thank the Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai for inviting us to participate in GCW 2025. Through this collaboration, the Chamber continues to foster meaningful connections and promote mutual growth between Benelux and China.
