Benelux Chamber Visits IPTE Industrial Automation for Factory Tour

Author: Shanghai BenCham

The Benelux Chamber of Commerce Shanghai recently organized a factory visit to IPTE Industrial Automation, one of its long-standing members (since 2014!!), offering participants an in-depth look at advanced factory automation solutions in practice. Founded in Belgium in 1992, IPTE (Integrated Production and Test Engineering) has grown into a global leader in automation systems for electronics manufacturing, with operations across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, including a strong presence in China.

The visit began with a short seminar, followed by a guided tour of the production facilities. Participants were able to observe how IPTE designs, builds, and integrates automation systems for the production, testing, handling, and final assembly of printed circuit boards and complex electronic products. The tour provided valuable insights into how factory automation supports efficiency, precision, and scalability in modern manufacturing environments.

The Chamber extends its sincere thanks to Lieven Van Heddegem, General Manager of IPTE, for hosting the visit and for his openness in sharing insights not only about IPTE’s technologies and operations, but also about the broader business climate for foreign manufacturers in China. His perspectives on market dynamics, opportunities, and challenges led to engaging discussions with the participants.

The visit concluded with a networking moment inspired by IPTE’s Belgian roots, featuring traditional Belgian meatballs, fries, waffles, and beers — a fitting way to wrap up the day. The Benelux Chamber of Commerce Shanghai thanks IPTE and its team for the warm welcome and the informative factory visit.
