In a significant cultural event marking the strengthening of ties between China and the Netherlands, the 2024 Dutch Holiday Fair (Vakantiebeurs 2024) in Utrecht unveiled the much-anticipated 'Hello! China' Pavilion. This new addition to the fair is a celebration of Chinese culture and a testament to the deep-rooted relationship between the two nations.

The 2024 Dutch Holiday Fair, now in its 53rd year, continues to be a prominent fixture in the Netherlands' cultural calendar. With over 1,000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries and an expected attendance of over 110,000 people, the fair stands as a testament to the importance of cultural and tourism exchange on a global scale.

A Glimpse into Chinese Culture
The pavilion, covering 100 square meters, is adorned with traditional Chinese elements such as a begonia gate, screens depicting ancient paintings, and a striking vermilion colonnade. It proudly showcases the "Hello! China" national tourism brand, creating a microcosm of China's rich cultural tapestry. The pavilion serves as a hub for exhibitors from various sectors, including tourism, aviation, and visa services, offering attendees an insight into China's diverse heritage and modern advancements.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The opening ceremony was performed by Chinese Ambassador to the Netherlands, Tan Jian, who highlighted the recent introduction of a visa-free policy for Dutch citizens. This move, aimed at facilitating easier travel, is accompanied by the availability of 36 weekly flights between the two countries, further underscoring the strengthening diplomatic relations. Ambassador Tan emphasized the allure of China's vast landscape, its rich history, and cultural diversity, encouraging visitors to explore the country.

Jeroen van Hooff, CEO of Royal Jaarbeurs, expressed delight over China's participation in the fair after a long hiatus, reflecting on the robust bilateral relations. The sentiments were echoed by former Dutch Ambassador to China, Ron Keller, who emphasized the new visa policy's significance and the appeal of China as a travel destination.

Promoting Tourism and Cultural Insights
The pavilion also received endorsements from Dutch tourism promoter Gabriella Esselbrugge, who shared her anticipation for an upcoming visit to Jiangsu province in China. Wang Zheng, director of the China Cultural Center in Den Haag, underscored the fair's role as a platform for promoting Chinese culture and tourism, hoping to inspire more exchange in the industry.

The China Pavilion, with its blend of traditional aesthetics and modern elements, not only offers a window into the richness of Chinese culture but also symbolizes the ongoing commitment to fostering a mutual understanding and appreciation between China and the Netherlands.
