China Southern Airlines has officially announced the commencement of direct flights to and from Luxembourg starting on December 21, 2023. The weekly flights, originating from Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport in Henan province, central China, will be serviced by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, accommodating 242-290 passengers (or up to 410, depending on the configuration).
The airline, which already operates routes to various European destinations such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris, and London, revealed this news through its subsidiary, China Southern Airlines Henan Airlines Co. Ltd., during a meeting on November 8, 2023. The meeting addressed the introduction of the new Zhengzhou-Luxembourg and resumption of the Zhengzhou-London routes. The "Air Silk Road" passenger route to Luxembourg is set to open on December 21, while the Zhengzhou-London route will resume on December 12. China Southern Airlines emphasizes that these direct passenger routes to Europe will facilitate a more convenient air bridge for economic, trade, and cultural exchanges, holding particular significance for Henan Province's active integration into the "One Belt, One Road" policy.
The Zhengzhou-Luxembourg route will operate on Thursdays, with departure from Zhengzhou Airport at 14:50 (Beijing time) and arrival at Luxembourg Airport at 19:00 CET. The return flight will depart from Luxembourg Airport at 15:00 CET on Fridays, arriving at Zhengzhou Airport at 08:10 (Beijing time) the following day.
Simultaneously, the resumed Zhengzhou-London route will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Furthermore, in collaboration with the Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL) and leveraging the new flight connections, Euro-Asie, a tour operator based in Steinsel, will organize a total of sixteen fourteen-day trips to China, scheduled from May to November 2024.
