Intern2China Pub Quiz Night Brings Interns Together in Shanghai

Following the arrival of 50+ interns through the Intern2China program in early 2026, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai recently hosted its first Intern2China Pub Quiz Night, offering participants a relaxed opportunity to meet peers and expand their network in the city.

Held on 4 March at Abbey Road, the Pub Quiz Night was organized and hosted by one of our interns, Oscar Snyers, whose initiative and outgoing spirit helped bring the Intern2China community together for an enjoyable and engaging evening. The event welcomed interns from a variety of companies and industries for a night of trivia, team spirit, and informal networking.

The format was simple: teams, questions, and a relaxed setting that encouraged conversation beyond the quiz itself. It was less about the scores and more about the connections, as for many participants it was the first chance to meet fellow interns outside of their own workplace. Being free to attend, and with a mix of topics and a healthy dose of competition, the event delivered exactly what it set out to do.

Moving to Shanghai for an internship is an exciting experience, but it can also be a challenging one. With more than 50 interns welcomed by the Chamber in the first quarter of 2026, initiatives such as the Pub Quiz aim to help young professionals connect beyond their workplace. Many interns arrive in Shanghai alone, often for the first time, and creating opportunities to build friendships and professional relationships plays an important role in making their experience more rewarding.

This sense of community is something the Chamber actively seeks to nurture. As the Intern2China program continues to grow—having already matched more participants in Q1 2026 than in all of 2025—creating touchpoints outside of the professional sphere becomes increasingly important. Events like the Pub Quiz Night offer something simple but valuable: a reason to show up, meet people, and feel a little less far from home.

As the Intern2China program develops further, the Chamber aims to continue organizing regular activities that support interns during their time in Shanghai, combining professional networking opportunities with informal gatherings that strengthen the community.
