Igal Chreky - General Manager of ASI Logistics

“It is important to follow your passion. Walk the road not taken. Risk is always paired with uncertainty. I really wanted to discover Asia - the people, the culture, the language, the industry and the country. I took a huge risk, but it paid off. I was crazy, but when you really want something - you are passionate about it. If you are young, you can try. Do not wait till you are 50 with 3 kids. Do what you like. Follow your passion. Listen to your heart. Work will feel like play then instead of pure necessity and survival” spoke Igal Chreky - General Manager of ASI Logistics.

Igal Chreky started his professional career after studying two Masters of Science in Civil and Petroleum Engineering in France, afterwards worked at Saipem as Deep Water Installation Method Lead Engineer for 8 years between Angola and France in the oil and gas market, then joined ASI Group for 12 years where he obtained his Executive MBA at HEC Paris and currently runs ASI Logistics in Asia.

In this edition of Meet the Member, the Benelux Chamber visits the office of ASI Logistics and goes on a walk to a French bakery and learns more about Igal Chreky’s voyage.

2ASI Logistics

ASI Logistics is a global supply chain management and freight forwarding company specialized in logistics.. ASI Logistics also handled personal effect moving through its division , ASI Movers.. ASI Logistics was acquired in 2022 by Sedis Logistics which is headquartered in Blandain (Belgium) with offices in Le Havre and in Marseille.

ASI Logistics focuses on freight forwarding—moving goods between Asia and Europe, and within Asia providing door-to-door services that ensure timely, safe delivery of products while handling complex logistics like compliance, documentation, and tracking. “It's a simple yet competitive business: our main goal is to move goods from point A to point B without harm and with no delays. It’s crucial that we stay proactive in this fast-paced industry.”

ASI Logistics has a presence in Shanghai, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Xiamen in China; in Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh in Southeast Asia. The global team consists of 350 people, in  Asia 80 people and in China 60 people. This freight transport company aims to solve problems for its customers by providing agile, flexible and reactive solutions.

Unique Selling Points

ASI Logistics differentiates itself through its medium size compared to the major global freight forwarders. This enables ASI Logistics to act swiftly and with autonomy in local markets. Igal emphasizes three core strengths: flexibility & reactivity, tailored business processes and expertise in diverse sectors.

ASI Logistics offers hands-on approach and tailor-made solutions for clients.. In contrast to large logistics firms with standardized protocols and slower reaction time. Therefore, ASI focuses on the clients’ needs, especially in Southeast Asia, a region where ASI plans to expand further.

The company's focus on being client-centric, fast decision-making, and local market expertise positions it uniquely in the face of fierce competition and global challenges.

Challenges & Industry Trends

“In 2023, we’re seeing low freight rates due to overcapacity and a dip in China’s exports. It’s a cyclical business, and we have to adapt. ASI Logistics operates in a market driven by external factors, including freight rates, macroeconomic conditions, and geopolitical issues. The COVID-19 pandemic caused major disruptions, with freight prices skyrocketing in 2020-2022 due to high demand and capacity shortages.

The ongoing China+1 strategy, where companies are diversifying their supply chains to countries like Cambodia and Vietnam, presents both challenges and opportunities. ASI has made Southeast Asia a focal point, helping clients with construction & raw materials and relocation logistics.

ASI Logistics’ strategy is to diversify its customer base, geographical footprint, and types of goods it handles to ensure long-term sustainability. This agility helps ASI avoid being over-reliant on a single market or product, allowing them to balance both imports and exports to hedge industry volatility and create an all-weather portfolio in logistics.”

Values & Customer Feedback

The core values at ASI Logistics are customer centricity, people development, and sustainability. The company's goal is to continually improve the customer experience while fostering a healthy work environment for employees. “Whether it's my staff or our clients, it's important to care about the shipment, yes, but first and foremost, it's about the people. In logistics too, it's all about people."

“In B2B, clients often speak up only when something goes wrong. It’s our job to anticipate problems and make sure they’re happy without needing to call us.”

Sustainability Efforts

Sustainability is a growing focus for ASI, especially in Europe, where the company’s headquarters have introduced solar panels, windmills, and eco-friendly trucks to reduce their carbon footprint.

At ASI Logistics, we prioritize sustainable, efficient logistics tailored to meet diverse business needs while preserving resources and reducing environmental impact. Our commitment to trust-based, long-term partnerships fosters mutual benefit and economic efficiency. We value social responsibility by promoting our core values: customer centricity, sustainability and people development.

Message to the Benelux community

“Business is coming back, fairs are happening again, and China is once again at the forefront of global trade. Our clients are returning, and ASI is ready to meet their needs with the same agility and reliability we’ve always provided.

For ASI Logistics, the future lies in expanding its presence in Asia and continuing to offer flexible, tailored logistics solutions to clients across the globe. With China still a central player in global trade, Igal remains optimistic about ASI’s ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.
