Stellantis and Dongfeng Explore European Joint Venture

Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor Corporation have announced their intention to form a new Europe-based joint venture, marking a further step in their long-standing partnership. The proposed collaboration also carries a Dutch connection, as Stellantis is headquartered in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.
The proposed joint venture would be Stellantis-led and would bring together shared activities in sales and distribution, manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering. It is designed to strengthen the companies’ ability to develop and deliver competitive new energy vehicles for the European market.
As part of the plan, the joint venture would manage the distribution of Dongfeng’s Voyah brand in selected European markets, while also exploring the localisation of new energy vehicle production in Europe. This includes potential manufacturing at Stellantis’ plant in Rennes, France, in line with “Made in Europe” requirements.
Beyond sales and production, the partnership would also focus on deeper collaboration in purchasing and engineering, aiming to leverage both companies’ strengths in scale, technology, and electrification capabilities.
This step builds on more than three decades of partnership between the two companies and reflects the growing cooperation between European and Chinese automotive ecosystems as the industry accelerates toward electrification.
