Vermeiren (Suzhou) inaugurated their new factory

Since 1957, Vermeiren Group, a Belgian wheelchair manufacturer, specialized in producing wheelchairs, hospital beds, comfort chairs and other medical equipment that accompanies a user in maintaining its autonomy and mobility. Today, Vermeiren is a group of more than 750 employees with subsidiaries in Europe and Asia and products sold in more than 45 countries worldwide.

Their story started 60 years ago in helping peoples with disabilities when the first Vermeiren wheelchair was produced in a backyard in Antwerp. 48 years later in 2005, a next milestone was set by producing the first Chinese Vermeiren Wheelchair in Suzhou. After a relocation project at the Suzhou Industry Park (SIP), a new factory has been built of 25.000m² which was inaugurated on April 10, 2018.

The new factory incorporates an R&D department, the newest technology of welding robots, testing facilities, wheel production, a plastic injection department, a furnishing department and several assembly lines able to produce manual wheelchairs, beds, relaxing chairs, scooters, electronic wheelchairs and other aids following the highest world standards. This factory is today the most modern one in the Vermeiren Group. It complies with the latest environmental requirements even using heat pumps as alternative heating system. In this way, the production of our products here in china will be greener than ever. And will help keeping the air cleaner here in Suzhou.
